SWEET COUNTRY

15.03.2021, Elbląg

In Poland, we are producers of a large number of characteristic sweets. Our country promotes, among others, home-made fudge “krówki mleczne”, candies “Irysy”, plums in chocolate, marshmallows and gingerbread.

Toruń is the city where gingerbread production developed, which has lasted since the middle ages until today. Traditional Toruń baking has been made for about 700 years. The Toruńskie Pierniki brand is ranked 19th in Poland, in terms of consumer recognition, including all brands.

The recipe for gingerbread cookies was protected because their taste was so perfect that everyone wanted to be able to make them themselves.

New employees were trained for years and knowledge was not shared too quickly. Getting promoted from a journeyman to a baker was a long, complicated process, depending on the students skill, the bakers humour and the needs of local markets.

“Give her cheesecake – she’ll give you a kick
Give her gingerbread – she’ll give you a kiss”

Work from Sweden (The Netherlands)

A news release

2021-02-20

From Nusnäs factory (producer of Dalecarlian horses) to ”Dalakuriren” (the local newspaper in Dalarna).

The biggest Dalecarlian horse ever has become a huge success

Great news! The biggest wooden horse ever has been made!

A dalecarlian horse (Dalahäst in Swedish) is a traditional carved, painted wooden statue of a horse originating in the Swedish province of Dalarna (Dalecarlia). In the old days the Dalecarlian horse was mostly used as a toy for children; in modern times it has become a symbol of Dalarna, as well as of Sweden in general. Several types of Dalecarlian horses are made, with distinguishing features common to the locality of the site where they are produced. One particular style has, however, become much more common and widespread than others. It is stoutly carved and painted bright red with details and a harness in white, green, yellow and blue.

Now the biggest one ever has been made, which is at display in Nusnäs. It has attracted visitors from all over the world.
