Bridging the communication gap
The subject covers examples of areas in which conflicts among generations occur. To make it easier, we will create an imaginary family in which grandparents, parents and children live. In such a family, conflicts related to various aspects of life are solved on an ongoing basis. In teams, you must analyze the problem.
Together, you decide on the opinions of each generation on a given topic. What will the exchange of views look like? What arguments will each generation present? What solution will you eventually reach? What could be alternatives and their consequences for each generation?
During the first part of the workshop:
- Deeply analyze your problem.
- suggest and write the script
- cast roles, prepare dialogues, set design, etc.
- decide who will be the director, who will be filming and edit the film on his/her mobile.
- nominate a person (s) who will present your production, comment and answer the questions.
During the second part of the workshop:
- you will record your film,
- you will edit it in an interesting way on your mobile phone
- you will transfer it into the computer used for the presentation,
- you will prepare for your presentation, tell the others about your mutual communication during production, problems which appeared, etc.
- Present alternative scenarios and answer questions.
- you will receive well-deserved applause.

The topics:
1. Politics is often one of the main topics of conversation in the family. Next week, parliamentary elections will be held in your country. Your grandparents and parents support different political parties, and you also have other favorites. There are tumultuous disputes at home and it is becoming increasingly difficult to endure.
Suggest different ways of solution of your home situation. How will your relatives react? What different scenarios can you suggest? Prepare a screenplay of your short film, discuss the roles, dialogs, setting, etc. Think about different endings to your film. Prepare the appropriate comment in which you describe your opinions and experiences. Invite teachers to participate in the project .

2. The approach to new technologies can be a significant cause of family conflicts. You follow the latest innovations, from time to time you help parents and teachers to operate new equipment, but the generation of your grandparents is completely unable to deal with new technologies, which leads to quarrels related to your abuse of phones and other gadgets. Your parents blame you for not visiting your grandparents, and if you do, you still look at your phone screen.
Look for ways to solve this problem. Suggest different screenplays, prepare screenplay for your film, cast roles, settings, etc. Prepare the appropriate comment in which you describe your opinions and experiences. Invite teachers to participate in the project .

3. In more traditional societies (as in Poland), elder members of family pay a lot of attention to proper dressing code and behavior in various situations. Comments on this subject have already been exchanged among your relatives several times. Your grandparents take your site more often, but you have also argued with them about it.
You want to go to a prom with a friend. Your suggestion of clothing met with harsh criticism and your mother said that she would not agree to your participation in the ball. You threaten to leave home.
In the film, present the positions of the generation and the scenario in which you come to a certain agreement. What other solutions did you come up with? What concessions should each party agree to? ? Prepare a screenplay of your short film, discuss the roles, dialogs, setting, etc.
Invite teachers to participate in the project.

4. Today's Europe is heading towards building a unified state formation, but in many countries more and more people are against it, putting their nation and state as the most important value. You observe similar situations in your neighborhood. Older generations are usually more patriotic, the younger ones more cosmopolitan. Soon, on the occasion of the national holiday, another march will be organized in your city organized by some national groups. There will also be also an anti-march organized by supporters of close European integration.
There is a conflict within your family as different generations will take part in the opposing celebrations.
While preparing the film, analyze the different attitudes characteristic to each age group. Look for the arguments they can present. What will the exchange of opinions on this topic look like? How can different views be reconciled? What joint activities can 3 generations of your family take? Suggest different screenplays, prepare screenplay for your film, cast roles, settings, etc. Prepare the appropriate comment in which you describe your opinions and experiences. Invite teachers to participate in the project.
